  Ever try to recycle something here in Gallup or McKinley County?
     Chances are that you have grown tired of the neatly sorted piles of cans, paper, cardboard, construction material and glass and have learned that it is just easier to discard everything.
This site is here to help by giving you accurate information about where you can
take the materials you have to be recycled.

Corrugated Cardboard Recycling Update

     

     City of Gallup Solid Waste Dept. has set out two bins at the Larry Brian Mitchell Recreation Center to collect Clean Corrugated Cardboard. The boxes must be broken down to fit in the slot. Please get the word out to your friends, family, and neighbors. The bins have Bright Lids

    Please No Other Materials - Only Clean Corrugated Cardboard - No Cereal boxes (greyboard).Other paper materials (newspaper, white paper, catalogs, magazines) These other paper productscan go to the Recycling Center on Hasler Valley Road.

     Newsprint can also be taken to Gallup Recycling (Gallup Trailer Sales) on E-66 (722-6737). The Community Pantry continues to accept corrugated cardboard, greyboard, catalogs, magazines, white paper, white shredded paper, and the items below.
    The Community Pantry will be accepting the following paper materials: Corrugated cardboard, Gray board (like cereal boxes), Card stock, WHITE paper and WHITE shredded paper (NO staples, paper clips, carbon, adhesives, or colored papers), Magazines, Catalogs, and Telephone books.  These materials will support the work of the Community Pantry to help feed the hungry in our county.

Recycling Centers are Open

  The McKinley and Cibola County recycling centers have opened and are being operated by the Regional Solid Waste Authority. The Gallup center is located at 107 Hasler Valley Road. The Milan  site is on State Road 568 in Milan.

  Billy W. Moore, the director of the Solid Waste Authority, deserves credit for taking on the implementation of these centers.Kudos to a responsible public official. “Recycling is a way for all of us to take care of our environment.  Recycling saves energy and resources like oil, water, and trees.  It reduces pollution and litter and it slows down the filling of our landfill.” said Mr. Moore  

  The hours of operation for both facilities will be from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday. The acceptable items to be collected do not yet include plastics or glass but do include: 1) Clean aluminum cans 2) Common steel cans (with labels removed) 3) Corrugated cardboard 4) Office paper(without glue, staples or plastic folders) 5) Newspapers 6)Magazines 7)  Phone books 8) Most E-waste (with some limitations).
